Types of Curtain Walls and Instance Parameters
In this blog we will look at the differences between the three main curtain wall types in Revit Architecture and the instance parameter controls for adjusting grid layouts.

The most primitive is the curtain wall type which has no divisions. Select the curtain wall and you will see in the Properties palette that the number bar for vertical and horizontal grids is greyed out.

The exterior glazing curtain wall is divided by five interior vertical grids and one horizontal grid. Select the exterior glazing curtain wall and note the justification of the grid pattern in the Properties Palette.

The Storefront curtain wall comes complete with vertical and horizontal grids with mullions attached. Note that the vertical grids are equally spaced on the Storefront curtain wall.
Q1. What does it mean to say Justification is at the beginning?
Ans. Justification is one of the instance parameters that we can use to adjust the spacing of grids.
Select the Storefront curtain wall and change the Justification to End for the horizontal grids.

Select the Storefront curtain wall again and change the Justification to Centre. Observe the changes to the grid pattern layout in each case.
Other instance parameter controls are Offset and Angle. I will illustrate these controls in my next blog.
